Annie Morrison earned her credentials as a Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM and Accredited Asset Management SpecialistSM from the College for Financial Planning, having over 27 years of financial industry experience. By working independently, she is not directed by meeting corporate “annual” sales goals with service on the periphery; rather, the focus is on understanding and servicing clients to meet THEIR goals.
To appreciate the dynamics of her aging clients’ needs, Annie was previously a member of the Community Advisor Board of the Center for the Study of Aging at McDaniel College. The program aspires to expand personal and professional knowledge of the aging processes and improve the quality of interactions with and care provided to elders.
Additionally, Annie was invited to write the “Cents and Sensibility” column for Baltimore's Child Magazine, a regional parenting publication that circulates 50,000 copies monthly in the Baltimore metro area. Topics have included savings, college planning, investing, introduction to long-term care, life and disability insurance, credit, and many financial planning strategies.
She began her career in investment banking, focusing on commercial real estate and raising debt and equity for public companies. This provided an in-depth understanding of investing strategies, which is applicable both for corporations as well as for individual investors.
Academically, Annie graduated in 3½ years from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a bachelor of arts degree in economics. As part of her education, she interned with the US Small Business Administration Department of Economic Research, completing an in-depth analysis of enterprise zones and the effects of tax credit incentives to enhance urban development across the country. She also completed the UCLA Personal Financial Planning Certificate Program in 2002.
She holds FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 securities registrations as an Investment Advisor Representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®, and also holds health, life, and variable insurance licenses to provide advisory and financial planning services to her clients.
Annie is married to Jeff, a Baltimore County Public Schools music teacher. They live in Hampstead, Maryland, raising two children, Sophia and Brody, and their rescue dog, Finn.
